Judy Bug Performing Arts Scholarship
About
Judith A. Church (1935 - 2011), "Judy Bug," was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a spirit of generosity like no other. She regularly donated to homeless missions, various Christian organizations, and supported children who were less fortunate so they could attend church camps. Her childhood was difficult with a single mother that did not make good choices, so she understood hardship and emotional struggle from a young age. She spent her early childhood in California, then was sent to Ohio to live with her grandparents and uncle. Despite a less than common childhood at that time, she found a love for music and Jesus. Judy was a talented pianist, saxophonist, and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining people. She played the piano for Country Music Hall of Fame artist Bobby Bare when he first publicly performed in Ohio. Judy proudly played piano for her church on Sundays and performed with church orchestra for various productions. When her daughters took ballet, she would often provide piano accompaniment. Judy and her husband, James, had four children and seven grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy. She was truly a "one in a million" woman.
In memory of her giving spirit and kind heart, her granddaughter and owner of UMF Studio, Holly, along with anonymous donors, created the Judy Bug Performing Arts Scholarship so that children with hardships may receive a dance education at little to no cost. Holly believes in supporting less than fortunate children in pursuit of their goals to become trained dancers. UMF Studio is blessed to offer this scholarship opportunity to children in our community. The 2019-2020 season will be the first season this scholarship will be available. Please see additional information and requirements below before applying for this Uplifting Opportunity.
